Are you a male with abnormally large breasts?

Typically this condition, known as gynecomastia, occurs in adolescent boys which will diminish over time; but in some cases as a male matures; the breasts remain enlarged causing devastating and sometimes embarrassing shame.

The term comes from the Greek words gyne meaning "woman" and mastos meaning "breast".

It takes a lot for a man to accept and communicate about this condition, but the first step is realizing that you are not alone. We are here to help you and guide you through the process of a new you. We offer you a complimentary private one on one consultation.

The best solution for gynecomastia is surgery. It is the only know physical remedy that can solve this physical condition which weight loss cannot.

Once your physical weight is lifted you can begin to heal your psychological scars that are very common but not spoken about often between men. Not being able to just take your shirt off at the beach can cause years of low self-esteem and hopelessness.

Often steroid abuse as well as certain medications and antidepressants will be the cause of breast enlargement in men. What some take to simply help themselves rebuild emotionally, leaves a side effect that makes men feel emasculated and even more depressed. Often in our society men feel it is better to be a little over weight than to be slender and have breasts.

Coming to terms with this condition is your first step. The second is contacting us.

Once you have your surgery, you will begin a new relationship and freedom with your body and yourself.

Typically you may resume your physical activities within few days. Exercise may be resumed a few days after surgery and is gradually increased over time. Patients return to work typically after 1-2 days. Drains may or may not be used, depending on the experience of the surgeon and the patient presentation.

You could simply schedule this surgery on your holiday vacation time and be back to work in the new year with a new you! If you are considering gynecomastia surgery, please read the following information provided by our board certified plastic surgeons that is available here in this article and on our website.

The Surgery:

• Liposuction and direct excision of the enlarged breast tissue make up the ideal solution to this problem.

• The combination of liposuction or UAL (ultrasound assisted Lipoplasty) and excision of the tissue is done with the patient under general anesthesia in our Facility or a Hospital. • The procedure is done through a small incision at the border of the nipple complex, and the glandular tissue is carefully removed.

• Liposuction is then used to contour the chest and increase muscle definition. The patient wears an elastic vest for several weeks to control healing and swelling.

All surgery carries some uncertainty and risk:

• Infection and bleeding although uncommon are potential events with any surgery.

• There may be an irregular contour around the nipple and the resulting scar may be thickened or raised.

• The nipple sensation may be altered of lost after the procedure.

Preparing for your surgery:

• Avoid drinking, smoking and taking or avoiding certain vitamins and medications which will be discussed in your consultation.

Types of anesthesia:

• Gynecomastia surgery is usually performed under a general anesthesia, and can be scheduled in our facility.

Now that Halloween has passed, let’s tuck those bat wings away, including yours!

Have you lost weight recently or do you have sagging skin that you just cannot get rid of no matter how hard you work out your arms? An arm lift, or otherwise known as brachioplasty, reduces excess skin and fat between the underarm and the elbow, reshapes your arm to result in smoother skin and contours, and results in a more toned and proportionate appearance. After weight loss or toning up the upper arms may need some extra help.

This procedure is useful when too much skin is present. As a person ages, upper arm skin can become loose and flabby as well. It can be done in conjunction with liposuction or other body reshaping procedures. The incision extends from the elbow to the underarm, and sometimes on to the side of the chest. In some instances, we may recommend that liposuction be used alone or in conjunction with an arm lift to remove excess fat in the upper arms.
